Job Description
The Part Time Sales Associate is responsible for maintaining a hospitable and warm customer experience. Sales Associates care for clients in the store helping with wardrobe styling, as well as home and gift purchases. Sales Associates are knowledgeable about all product lines in the shop and serve as a guide in store from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Provide authentic, warm, and welcoming interactions with all who enter the store, serving as an expert and guide for styling, gifts and home goods.
- Serve as an ambassador for There There, embodying a warm, generous and kind experience for each guest from their entry until their exit and via digital channels.
- Maintain the visual standards of the store including restocking goods, steaming clothing, tagging merchandise, and light cleaning-- including sweeping and dusting.
- Receive, unpack and organize shipments maintaining back of house organizational standards.
- Pack online orders and ship them in a timely manner according to service level agreements.
- Occasionally participate in content creation for social media including some photography and styling.
The ideal candidate has:

- Previous experience in service, retail, or hospitality
- An interest in sustainable clothing and goods
- Ability to work up to a 6 hour shift on your feet
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs.
- Experience with a web-based POS system
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to prioritize time and balance competing concerns
- A passion for home styling, clothing styling, or both
- Experience in social media content creation
Compensation and perks:
- This position is compensated at an hourly rate of $20, and can work from 5-20 hours per week depending on the season.
- The Part-Time Sales Associate is eligible for a merchandise discount of 40% off of retail prices.
- Additional bonuses, gift cards, and perks may be earned through sales performance.

Mindy King started There There to create a hub for those looking to purchase more ethical and responsible clothing and gift items. Our brick and mortar shop opened in the River Arts District in Asheville in April 2023.
